Even the leanest of lean and the fittest of fit, have their days.
Anyone who is ‘dieting’ or trying to live a healthier lifestyle knows that the food isn’t the hard part. Fruits, veggies, and some meat – it seems easy enough. Add a little bit of temptation here and there and rational thinking is out the window.
We see women across every social media platform with these perfectly toned and healthy looking bodies. They tell us how great their ‘acai morning bowls’ and ‘tofu super salads’ are, especially if we want to look just like them.
So here we are, in the real world, working long shifts or rushing to class. No time for pretty bowls and meatless salads. What happens when our diets turn to shit? When we just want absolutely everything in sight? What happens when we grab a handful of crackers or
granola bar instead of a salad? Well, nothing.
There is such a misconception that these athletes or figures that we tend to praise, never fail. We like to think that their every bite is just perfect, and in order to look like them, ours need to be also. And when ours aren’t, we find ourselves so disappointed and hopeless.
A Few Things To Remember
They Are Human Too
It’s great to look up to hard working athletes for a sense of motivation or inspiration. It’s not so great to think they’re flawless. Even the greatest and strongest athletes have those days.
Work It Off
We all know the saying ‘you can’t out work a bad diet’ and yes this is true, but – working out never hurt a bad diet? If you feel like you had too much of this or that, jump on the treadmill for thirty minutes and get some extra cardio in.
Let Tomorrow Be a New Day
Having a ‘not so perfect’ day doesn’t mean it’s time to throw in the towel and give up all together. Don’t dwell on it, don’t feel bad about it, don’t make excuses for it – just suck it up and move on. Avoid temptations, get ready for a new day, and keep on working hard.
Becoming discouraged after one wrong move, is the worst choice of all. Everyone is going to have those days. Coco Puffs > lettuce any day, right?! It’s not easy and some times it doesn’t seem doable so on those days – put in a little extra work at the gym, drink some water, and prepare for tomorrow.
